Surface Mount PCB Assemblies (SMT)
Cleveland Circuits continually invest in state-of-the-art equipment to keep our SMT lines running at the highest levels of precision and efficiency. By enhancing our surface mount technology lines with the latest systems, we deliver PCB assembly services that meet the most demanding design and manufacturing requirements
Let's Talk Circuits
Scalable SMT Solutions for Prototypes to Production
Our surface mount technology (SMT) assembly capabilities include high-speed pick-and-place machines that reliably handle components down to 01005 (0.4 x 0.2 mm) up to 55mm x 75mm, as well as fine-pitch BGAs, micro BGAs, QFN’s and other advanced packages. Combined with automated stencil printing and controlled reflow soldering, our SMT production lines are designed to deliver repeatable accuracy on both prototype PCB assemblies and large-scale manufacturing runs. Engineers can rely on our expertise in complex, high-density PCB assembly to meet demanding design requirements, with the scalability and flexibility to move seamlessly from concept to full production
Specialised capabilities
Cleveland Circuits advanced Surface Mount Technology (SMT) line has the capability to place up to 66,000 components per hour, it ensures high throughput, consistent quality, and tight tolerances. This enables us to achieve efficient, scalable solutions for both prototype development and high-volume production.
AOI and SPI inspection
Our advanced AOI and SPI inspection systems ensure consistent PCB quality by verifying solder paste accuracy and detecting defects throughout the assembly process. This guarantees reliable, defect-free boards and a stable manufacturing workflow.
Industry standards you can rely on
SMT Assembly Expertise Across Key Industries
Engineers know that different industries place very different demands on printed circuit boards. At Cleveland Circuits, we’ve built our SMT processes around meeting those challenges head-on, delivering circuit board assemblies that engineers can trust from your design concept to full production.
Defence & Aerospace
Our SMT lines handle miniature components, fine-pitch BGAs and micro BGAs with repeatable precision. This capability ensures our PCB assemblies consistently meet the stringent standards required for mission-critical avionics, communications, and control systems. To guarantee reliability, Cleveland Circuits can provide prototypes for complex in-circuit and functional testing under field conditions, providing engineers with proven performance before deployment. Whether delivering a low-volume aerospace PCB prototype for evaluation or scaling to full production, we maintain strict process control, full traceability, and unmatched reliability. In defence and aerospace electronics manufacturing, there is simply no margin for error.
Medical Devices
For medical electronics, reliability isn’t just a design target — it’s a regulatory requirement. From patient monitoring systems to handheld diagnostics, medical PCBs must combine compact form factors with absolute electrical integrity. Cleveland Circuits automated SMT assembly processes, combined with strict quality control and traceability, make it possible to design with confidence. We work closely with engineers to build prototypes quickly and scale seamlessly into production, helping device manufacturers bring innovations to market faster while meeting international compliance standards.
Renewables
Wind turbines, solar inverters, and battery storage systems all share a common need: Printed Circuit Boards that deliver consistent performance. At Cleveland Circuits, our SMT assemblies are built for durability and stability, giving engineers the assurance that their designs will perform as intended. With scalable production capabilities, we support renewable energy companies from early pilot projects right through to large-scale rollouts. Our PCBs are already powering wind turbines across the North Sea.
That said, bringing these solutions to market isn’t without its challenges. High-reliability laminates and conformal coatings increase material costs, while complex builds such as PCBs with thick copper layers add to manufacturing difficulty. Supply chain pressures, from rare-earth sourcing to geopolitical constraints, can also affect timelines. Cleveland Circuits helps customers overcome these hurdles with proven expertise, trusted supplier networks, and flexible production processes that keep projects moving forward with confidence.
